Volunteers play a very important role at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School.
They may assist in classrooms, the Learning Commons, act as chaperones on class trips and excursions, or become involved with activities planned by the Catholic School Council, which is made up entirely of volunteers.
All volunteers must submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening as required by the School Board.
Parents interested in volunteering can ask for a Police Check Request Letter from your child's classroom teacher.
The letter will be taken by the requestor to the police department/OPP in the area where you live.
Return the completed Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening to the school. The office will record that it has been completed and add your name to the eligible volunteer list.
The Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening remains valid if the volunteer completes a Declaration Form in the school office each year. If the declaration form is not completed, then a new Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening must be initiated.
For additional information on volunteering, you can visit the Board's Policy on Parent and Community Relations. If you are interested in volunteering your time at St. Michael, please contact your child's teacher.
